Spartans battle with Colorado College

The Aurora University women's basketball team hosted the Tigers of Colorado College in Thornton Gymnasium on Monday afternoon. The Spartans and Tigers battled with a late rally by the visitors sending the Spartans to a 62-59 loss.

How it happened
- The Spartans built a 12-7 lead in the first behind back to back three's from Alina Anderson.
- AU would go on to lead 21-14 after the first quarter.
- A three from Jennifer Heinberg early in the second expanded the AU lead to 12 at 26-14.
- Following a bucket from Dani Antoine, AU led 36-26 but the visitors closed the first-half on a 6-0 run.
- AU led 36-32 going to halftime.
- Antoine led all scorers with 10 first-half points.
- A 10-2 AU run midway through the third gave the Spartans the games largest lead of 16 at 53-37.
- The Tigers again closed out the quarter with another run, this one 9-0 and AU led 53-46 going to the fourth.
- Leading 59-54 with 3:32 left in the game, a controversial offensive foul called on Kylie Fischbach spurned what appeared to be a basket and lending free-throw.
- Colorado College took advantage with two, three-point buckets to go ahead 60-59 with one minute left in the game.
- AU trailed by one with 25 seconds to play when Fischbach stepped in front of a Tiger pass with a clear path to the Spartan basket. A foul was called on Colorado College but gave AU possession with no free-throws.
- The Spartans had two possessions for a chance to go ahead or tie the game but cameup shy and fell 62-59.
