Spartans Dominate Third Period to Complete Weekend Sweep

The Aurora University women's hockey team capped off a strong weekend with a dominant 5-0 shutout win over the University of Dubuque on Saturday afternoon. Five different Spartans found the back of the net in a decisive third-period surge, securing the victory and completing the weekend sweep.

How it happened 
- The opening period remained scoreless, with AU controlling the pace and out shooting Dubuque 15-6.
- In the second, both teams had power-play opportunities, but strong penalty kills kept the game even.
- AU generated three power plays and recorded 10 shots on goal but couldn't find the back of the net.
- The Spartans broke through in the third period, netting five goals from five different players.
- Samira Schmidt struck first just 2:20 into the period, burying a pass from Annabelle Scriver. Moments later, Olivia Buzzelli extended the lead to 2-0 off an assist from Teagan Moffat.
- Alex Johnson made it 3-0 with her second goal of the season, finishing a setup from Ellie Visser.Courtney Docktor and Cara Cook added insurance goals, with assists credited to Reilly O'Brien, Peyton Elliott, and Zara Post.
- AU's dominant third-period performance secured the shutout victory and a weekend sweep.
