Moffat's Overtime Goal Gives Spartans Victory

The Aurora University women's hockey team began their first round of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association League Playoffs on Friday night, taking on the Foresters of Lake Forest College in a 4 vs 5 seed match up in Lake Forest, Illinois. With the game tied at two entering the overtime period, Teagan Moffat lit the lamp for AU to give them the game one victory.

How it happened 
- AU got to a power play midway through the first period, as Cara Cook and Ellie Visser each put shots on goal for the Spartans.
- Cook and Visser could not convert leaving the game scoreless going into the first intermission.
- The Spartans put 14 shots on goal during that opening frame to just five for the Foresters.
- LFC scored a power play goal just past the 12 minute mark of the second period, taking a 1-0 lead.
- The Foresters got to another power play shortly after scoring the game's first goal, but AU killed it off to keep their deficit at one heading into the second intermission.
- Shelbi Duster came up with 14 saves in the second period alone to keep LFC at one on the scoreboard going into the third period.
- At 6:02 in the third, Melina Cane tied the score at one with a goal for the Spartans, as she was assisted by Keliana Schmidt.
- Just over four minutes later in the third, the Foresters scored an even strength goal of their own to take a 2-1 lead.
- At 11:45 in the third, the Spartans got to a power play and converted on the advantage.
- Peyton Elliott found Jillian Billsborough to tie the score at two.
- That 2-2 would hold until the end of the third, as the Spartans did get to another power play near the end of the period, but were not able to take the lead.
- Teagan Moffat gave AU the lead and victory 2:46 into the overtime period when she there for a rebound and score.
- Moffat was assisted by Zara Post and Cook on her game-winner.
