Spartans fall in Harris Cup Semifinal

The Aurora University men's hockey team hosted Adrian College in the semifinal round of the 2024-2025 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Harris Cup. AU fell 2-0 with a late empty net goal ending the AU rally opportunity.

How it happened
- Less than two minutes into the contest, Adrian got to a power play, but the Spartans killed it off to keep it scoreless.
- AU would get a power play of their own but later in the first but the goalies kept the score 0-0.
- Early in the second, a loose puck at the Spartan blueline found the stick of an Adrian defenseman and he got the shot past Mucitelli.
- Adrian led 1-0 in the second.
- AU had a couple power play chances in the back end of the second but could not light the lamp.
- The Spartans trailed 1-0 as the game headed to the second intermission.
- The third period was back and forth hockey with the goalies keeping the contest at 1-0.
- With the net empty for an extra attacker in the final seconds, Adrian was able to add on a goal for the 2-0 final score.
- The Spartans lost their first contest of 2025 and first game since a non-conference game at Adrian on December 29, 2024.
