Manzanarez named D3hoops.com Region 8 Freshman of the Year

Aurora University freshman guard Krystyna Manzanarez earned top honors as a freshman in the region when D3hoops.com announced their All-Region Teams on Tuesday. Manzanarez was selected as the Region 8 Freshman of the Year by D3hoops.com.

The D3hoops.com honor comes after she was named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Freshman of the Year. Manzanarez and a First-Team All-Conference player. She earned the recognition after she played in all 25 games for AU this season, averaging 13.7 points and 4.9 rebounds per game while helping lead the Spartans to the No. 4 seed in the NACC Tournament. She ranked third amongst NACC players in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.27) and fourth in field goal percentage (.437).

Manzanarez scored in double figures 19 times, scoring a season-high 23 points against both Beloit in mid-November and Benedictine in a NACC Tournament quarterfinal game. She came close to a pair of double-doubles, pulling down nine rebounds against Concordia Chicago in mid-February and Wisconsin Lutheran in early December.

The AU women finished the 2024-2025 season with a 17-8 overall record and went 11-5 in the NACC.
