Spartans out-shine Stars in NACC Tournament win

The Aurora University Spartan men's volleyball team hosted the Stars of Dominican University in the semi-final round of the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament. AU rose above the visiting Stars and will advanced to the NACC Championship Final with a 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-19) victory inside Thornton Gymnasium.

How it happened
- The Spartans trailed early in the opening set with AU Head Coach Dan Ames utilizing a timeout down 10-5.
- AU slowly chipped away at the deficit and took a 19-18 lead on a Star attack error.
- Sebastian Ciszewski (two) and SJ Nelson (one) crushed home kills in the final points of the opening set.
- AU scored the final two points on blocks with Josh Mclellan and Ammar Brzovic combining for the 24th point and SJ Nelson slamming home the 25th points for a 25-22 set win.
- The Spartans would finish hitting .312 in the first set victory.
- Set two was tightly played with six lead changes and 12 tie scores.
- Back to back kills from Lucas Meier gave AU the final lead change of the set with an 18-17 lead and forcing a Dominican timeout.
- The talk was not beneficial for the visitors as the Spartans went on to win again by a 25-22 score. 
- The 25th and final point came on a monster kill from Ciszewski.
- SJ Nelson led the hitting with five kills as the Spartans again hit well at .306.
- The Spartans came out strong in the third set with aces from Logan Brouwer and Nathan Kirwan forcing a very early Dominican timeout with AU ahead 5-1.
- Dominican would rally and went ahead to lead AU 15-12.
- As he had done earlier in the contest, a well called timeout by Coach Ames turned around the momentum as the Spartans rallied.
- Back to back kills from McLellan gave AU the lead for the final time in the set at 18-17.
- The Spartans had a bit of a block party as well in the third set with 5.5 team blocks led by three from Logan Brouwer.
- None of the blocks were bigger than his solo block for the match ending point as AU won 25-19.

- AU was victorious 3-0 and advances to the championship round of the NACC Tournament.
