The Aurora University men's lacrosse team went down to the wire with Lake Forest College on Wednesday night, as the Spartans took down the Foresters by a score of 10-9Â at Spartan Athletic Park.
Ben Strub and
Owen Spencer each had three goals in the contest, as goalie
Asher Deputy and the AU defense came up with key stops in the final minute to edge LFC by one goal.

Rielan Pura found
Owen Spencer to give AU the early 1-0 lead.
- LFC answered back at 11:32 in the first, before
Ben Strub re-gave AU that one goal lead after finding the back of the net two minutes later.
- Strub sniped one in again with six minutes left in the first to stretch that Spartan lead to 3-1, before a goal from LFC at 4:45 made it 3-2.
- With 2:58 left in the first, Spencer netted his second goal, before the Foresters answered back eight seconds later to make it 4-3 in favor of AU going into the second quarter.
- Spencer secured hit hat-trick early in the second to give AU a 5-3 lead.

Tyler Foerstel found
Griffin Joas at 9:06 in the second, as AU held a 6-3 advantage.
- LFC cut into that lead with a goal with 5:47 to go in the first-half.
- Back-to-back goals from Foerstel late in the second, including one at the buzzer, gave AU an 8-4 lead going into the halftime break.
- Despite another goal from Strub, LFC outscored AU 4-1 in the third quarter to make it a one goal game at 9-8 in favor of the Spartans going into the fourth.
- Joas found Pura about halfway through the fourth to give AU some insurance at 10-8.
- LFC cut it back to a one goal game with a score as just a 1:20 remained in the game.
- With 54 seconds left, LFC called a timeout.
- With 21 seconds remaining, AU goalie
Asher Deputy came up with a big stop, keeping each the score locked at 10-9.
- LFC regained possession, fired off one more shot with just a couple seconds remaining that hit the post and allowed time to run out, giving AU a 10-9 victory.
