Strub Sends Spartans Past Scarlet Hawks

The Aurora University men's lacrosse team finished off their three game road trip in Chicago on Wednesday night, taking on Illinois Institute of Technology. Ben Strub led the Spartan offense with four goals and an assist, while Asher Deputy and the AU defense only allowed three goals in the 14-3 victory.

How it happened
- Ben Strub picked up a hat trick within the first six minutes of the game, as Rielan Pura picked up an assist on Strub's third score.
- Pura assisted Connor Bolton later in the first for another AU goal, before Griffin Joas found Chris Bucci to give the Spartans a 5-0 lead going into the second quarter of play.
- AU secured a man-up early in the second and didn't waste much time as Strub found Bolton to give AU a 7-0 lead.
- Strub and Bucci continued their strong days as they each scored later in the second, before IIT got on the board to cut their deficit to 8-1 going into the halftime break.
- Another unassisted goal from Bucci gave AU a 9-1 lead early in the second-half.
- Three unanswered goals from the Spartans stretched their lead to 12-1 later in the third.
- Owen Spencer found Bolton for the first score, Eli Etzler and Tyler Foerstel each found the back of the net during that Spartan scoring run.
- IIT scored with just two seconds left in the third to cut their deficit to 12-2 going into the final quarter of play.
- Luke Smith and Luke DuPont each got in on the AU scoring barrage in the fourth.
- Despite another Scarlet Hawk goal in the fourth, AU ran away with the 14-3 victory.
- Asher Deputy finished with 12 saves in his 53 minutes in-goal for the Spartans.
