Aurora University men's volleyball junior
Josh McLellan received top academic recognition today when the College Sports Communicators (CSC) released their 2025 Academic All-America® at-large teams.
Having already secured post season recognition in 2025 as a First-Team All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), the first for an AU men's volleyball student-athlete, McLellan doubled down in becoming the first Spartan men's volleyball student-athlete to earn the Academic All-America honor from CSC while becoming the 53rd Spartan to earn CSC (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-America recognition.
McLellan was named AVCA Region IV All-Region and was previously given top honors from the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference being named the NACC Player of the Year and First-Team All-Conference. On the 2025 campaign he recorded 413 kills (4.09 per set) while posting a .308 hitting percentage. He has also contributed 139 digs, 42 blocks (four solo), 18 service aces, and six assists. The 2025 season saw him set a new single season record for kills, breaking the record he set in 2024 and became AU's all-time leader in kills, currently sitting at 786.
AU finished the 2025 season with a 26-5 overall record and went 11-1 in the NACC while capturing the regular season and tournament championships. The 26 wins shattered the previous single season record of 18 set in 2024.
