Spartans sweep day one at Ripon College Classic

The Aurora University women's volleyball team opened the 2025 season at the Ripon College Classic and swept the day, defeating Emmaus University 3-0 in dominating fashion and then knocking the sting out of Wisconsin Superior 3-1.

How it happened
MATCH ONE:
- The Spartans dominated from the opening serve with an ace from Trinity Nelson and when her rotation ended AU led 6-0.
- Izabella Kowalczyk had six kills and Nelson passed out 10 assists in the 25-9 first set win.
- AU won the second set 25-5 with only five Spartans getting a turn at the service line in the set win.
- Samantha Torres has four aces and Meredith Milz passed out nine assists in the set.
- The third set was much like the previous two with AU rotating in many athletes on to the court.
- AU won 25-9 with five kills each from Erin Henkel and Torres.

MATCH TWO
- The Spartans controlled the action from the opening point, a kill from Alissa Hulst.
- AU won 25-16 with 14 assists from Nelson to five different attackers led by five kills from Kowalczyk.
- The second set was a closer played contest but AU once again never trailed before winning 25-17.
- Every time Superior narrowed the AU lead, the Spartans quickly pulled back ahead by a comfortable margin in the second set.
- Katelyn Ruse knocked down seven kills with 14 more assists for Nelson.
- For the first time in six sets the Spartans would trail in a set but battled back and forth with the set knotted 21-21. AU would drop the set 25-22.
- The youthful Spartans showed their toughness in the fourth set, once again leading from the opening point on the way to a 25-13 win.
- Six Spartans collected kills as the team hit .382 in the set victory that sealed the match 3-1.
