- MSJ then methodically went down the field 80-yards in 12 plays with a touchdown to cut the AU lead to 14-7.
- Following the second interception of the day for Adkins, MSJ scored again but a blocked PAT by Ty Hopp kept AU in the lead 14-13.
- The Spartans started their final drive of the first-half with 1:53 on the clock and needed just 45 seconds to go 70-yards in seven plays.
- Adkins hit Connor Bright on a 20-yard scoring strike and going to halftime, AU led 21-13.
- MSJ scored on their second possession of the third quarter, another long drive of 16-plays spanning 7:08 of game time and grinding out 67-yards. The two-point conversion was successful and the game was tied 21-21.
- AU answered immediately with a six-play, 79-yard drive over 2:58. Adkins hit Trey Urwiler on a 20-yard strike and the Spartans led 28-21 following the Brett Money PAT.
- The teams then again traded punts before MSJ capitalized on a missed tackle on a check down route which resulted in a 59-yard touchdown to tie the game.
- The Spartans then took off 4:44 of game clock in an eight-play, 80-yard drive with Adkins finding a wide open Urwiler in the end-zone for the go ahead score and a 35-28 lead.
- The AU defense made two stops in the final minutes with the final drive and play ending in a little pitchy-pitchy-woo-woo by the Lions but the many laterals finally went out of bounds and AU was victorious 35-28.
