Strong fourth quarter finish lifts AU women past CUW

The Aurora University women's basketball team out-scored the visiting Falcons of Concordia University Wisconsin 23-13 in the fourth quarter on their way to a 70-59 victory. Krystyna Manzanarez led all scorers with 26 points while Elizabeth Groswold had nine huge points off the bench late in the game.

How it happened
- AU led for all but a short spurt in the first quarter and a three from Jennifer Heinberg just before the end of the quarter gave the hosts their largest lead of five at 15-10.
- The second quarter was much of the same with AU leading but the visiting Falcons within striking range.
- A layup from Krystyna Manzanarez just before half gave the Spartans the largest lead of seven (32-25).
- CUW jumped on the Spartans early in the third and led by four midway through.
- The Spartans kept the Falcons from soaring, closing the period on a 10-5 run and leading by one, 47-46, heading to the fourth.
- Two free-throws from Kylie Fischbach put AU ahead 51-50 and the Spartans would not trail again.
- A three from Heinberg and bucket from Fischbach capped a 12-0 AU run and the Spartans led 61-50 with 3:42 left.
- Elizabeth Griswold converted a layup and a made free-throw from Dani Antoine gave the Spartans their largest lead of the night of 13 (66-53) with 45 seconds remaining.
- AU would hold on and win by 11, 70-59.
