Spartans Fall to St. Olaf to Start the New Year

The Aurora University women's hockey opened up their 2026 portion of the season with a 4-2 loss to St. Olaf College Friday night. 44 saves from Macy Blooming and a strong two goal second period wasn't enough.

How it happened 
- AU started the game with two penalties in the sixth minute, making them short-handed five on three.
- St. Olaf took advantage of the power play and scored going up 1-0.
- With 25 seconds remaining in the first period, St. Olaf would score again, this time on even strength, going up 2-0.
- Scoring again were the Oles one minute into the second period, ahead now 3-1.
- Then, in the fourth minute, the Spartan Callie Lane would put one to the back of the net unassisted.
- AU would score their second consecutive goal of the night when Jillian Bilsborough would score with the assist from Samira Schmidt and Cara Cook.
- St. Olaf would score their fourth and final goal of the game in the 15th minute, going up 4-2.
- That would prove to be the final goal of the game as neither team would score in the third period.
- AU would fall 4-2 to start the new year.
