AU women perform well in final indoor tune up

The Aurora University Women's Track and Field team competed in the F. Lee Slick Invitational hosted by North Central College on Friday. The Spartans had a great showing in their final regular season meet, earning multiple top ten marks and many personal bests.
 
Mika Fields and Susana Martinez took first and second place in the 800-Meters, respectively. Fields closed hard to hold off Martinez, finishing in 2:25.25. She is now seventh in school history in the event. Martinez finished close behind in 2:25.43, placing her ninth in school history.
 
Marisa Janecek placed eighth in the weight throw with a mark of 13.27m. She also contested the shot put, where she placed 16th with a throw of 9.27m.
 
Emma Jasutis finished 11th in the mile in a personal best time of 5:34.73.
 
Up next, the Spartans will compete in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Championships in Ripon, Wisconsin. The meet will take place on February 27th and 28th.
