Spartans open NACC play with win at St. Norbert

The Aurora University men's volleyball team kept to the road on Tuesday night, opening Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play at St. Norbert College. AU defeated the Green Knights 3-1 and in doing so helped Head Coach Dan Ames surpass 100 wins in his time as a Spartan.

How it happened
- After trading scores back and forth early in the opening set, a kill from AJ Vescova put the Spartans ahead for good at 8-7.
- AU won 25-18, hitting .300 in the opening set win.
- The Spartans fell behind early in the second set, trailing 10-3 but worked their way to down just two in the final points.
- AU would fall in the second 25-22.
- Leading for most of the third set, the Spartans hung on to a late Norbert rally and won 25-23.
- Josh McLellan and SJ Nelson both hit over .400 in the set with six kills each for the win.
- The fourth set saw the Spartans battle the Knights and the west court jinx for a 25-22 win.
- Ammar Brzovic was perfect on attack with four kills in as many attempts in the match sealing win.
