Akl and Diaz earn AHCA All-American honors

The American Hockey Coaches Association NCAA Division II-III men's head coaches have recognized the top hockey players in their division by selecting them as CCM Hockey/AHCA All-Americans for 2025-2026. A pair of Aurora University Spartans, defenseman Simon Diaz and forward Hassan Akl, were selected as Second-Team All-American.

Akl is a repeat All-American with his Second-Team selection while Diaz earns the honor as a sophomore for the first time in his career. Akl has 37 points on the season with 13 goals and 24 assists while leading the fourth best offense in Division III scoring 4.71 goals per game.  Diaz is eighth among defenseman in Division III in points with 25, scoring five goals and handing out 20 assists. The duo was previously named Northern Collegiate Hockey Association All-Conference.

The 2025-2026 season for the AU men's hockey team has seen new standards set for wins in a season with a 25-5-1 overall record, while making their first NCAA Division III Frozen Four appearance which will take place tomorrow, Friday, March 27 with a 2:00 p.m. (cst) / 3:00 p.m. (est) puck drop in Utica, New York against Hamilton College.

The AHCA All-American teams have 10 players that will participate in the NCAA Division III Men's Ice Hockey Championships, hosted this weekend by Utica University. The CCM Hockey/AHCA All-American Hockey Teams are sponsored by CCM Hockey and chosen by members of the American Hockey Coaches Association.
