Spartans Split with Eagles After Walk Off Win

The Aurora University softball team hosted Benedictine University for a NACC double-header Sunday afternoon. The Spartans fell in game one, then bounced back to walk it off in game two 6-5. Angie Delgado put down a bunt to bring in Mia Rivera for the Spartan win.

How it happened
Game One
- Benedictine took control of this one early, scoring two runs in the first.
- The Eagles continued with five more unanswered runs, leading 7-0 after three innings.
- Then in the fourth, Stephani DeBise roped a line drive down the left field line for a home run to put the Spartans on the board.
- BU put up four more runs in the fifth to go up 11-1.
- The Spartans would fall in game one 11-1.

Game Two
- Then came game two, where it seemed that the Spartans took offense to game one.
- Alyssa Gale tripled in Lily Komperda to score the Spartans first run of the game.
- Mia Malczyk then reached base on an error by the Eagle third basemen allowing Gale to score.
- Scoring two more in the third were the Spartans, when Komperda tripled in Angie Delgado to cap off the inning.
- AU led 4-0 after three innings.
- The Eagles began their comeback in the sixth inning collecting three runs.
- Scoring one more in the seventh were the Eagles, now taking a 5-4 lead.
- The bottom of the seventh began with an Aubrey Ortiz triple to hype-up the Spartans.
- Mia Rivera then singled to the shortstop allowing Ortiz to come in and score to tie the game at five.
- DeBise then singled to right to move Rivera over to third.
- Then it was Delgado, who laid down a squeeze bunt bringing in Rivera for the walk off win!
- AU takes down the Eagles in game two with the Delgado walk off bunt, 6-5.
