Spartans fly past Eagles in return to Vago Field

The Aurora University men's lacrosse team returned to the campus and Vago Field on Wednesday afternoon for the regular season finale against Benedictine University. AU blew open the game with a huge second period on their way to a 19-11 victory.

How it happened
- The first period saw AU and Benedictine go back and forth in a high scoring 15 minutes.
- Dylan Kranzush, Chris Bucci (two) and Tyler Foerstel (two) scored for the Spartans.
- AU led 5-4 after one.
- After BU tied the game 5-5 early in the second, the Spartans ran off five straight goals to end the half.
- Owen Spencer, Foerstel and Bucci scored unassisted.
- Owen Smith got in on the scoring with a Griffin Joas assist.
- Bucci finished the first-half scoring late in the quarter and AU led 10-5 which would be the halftime score.
- Spencer and a man-up tally from Caden Bunes extended the AU scoring run to seven with a 12-5 lead.
- BU answered with three goals to cut the Spartan lead to 12-8.
- Owen Meyer put an end to the BU run with 1:27 remaining in the third.
- Kranzush got the scoring started early in the fourth and the Spartans led 14-8.
- BU scored a pair of goals to pull to down four again but the Spartans quickly put an end to any Eagle hopes.
- Joas, Bucci and Foerstel scored before the highlight of the scoring came next.
- AU goalie Asher Deputy fed a streaking long pole in defender Gabe Zapf. Zapf fired a shot into the BU net and AU led 18-10 with 6:18 left in the game.
- Bunes concluded the games scoring as AU won 19-11.
