Spartans out slug Thunder in 600th career win for Stevens

The Aurora University baseball team hosted Wheaton College in a midweek non-conference night game at Jim Schmid Field at Suart Sports Complex in Montgomery, Illinois on Tuesday night. The AU bats exploded for 20 runs and a 20-6 victory which was the 600th career win for Head Coach Adam Stevens.

How it happened
- The Spartans fell behind 2-0 in the first after a Wheaton home run.
- AU manufactured a two out run in the bottom of the inning, a run that started a 13-0 AU scoring run.
- The game remained 2-1 going to the bottom of the third where the Spartans put up a crooked number.
- Five hits including doubles from Joe Lukancic and Tyler Patton pushed across five runs and AU led 6-2.
- Isaac Goddard tossed a second straight 1-2-3 inning and got the bats back to work.
- This time the offense used patience with four walks, a hit by pitch while having just one hit and help from two Wheaton errors.
- Seven Spartans would cross the plate and AU led 13-2 after four innings.
- Wheaton scored four runs in the fifth and Josh Christman came on in relief of Goddard for AU.
- AU once again answered with the aid of two more Wheaton errors, a walk and three hits including a double from Jaden Holgado.
- Three more runs crossed for a 16-6 lead with a two-run single from Julian Rosales doing the big damage.
- Four more AU runs scored in the sixth for a 20-6 lead.
- Five Spartan hits in the inning with a Ryan Buck double led to the four run frame.
- Christman shut the door for his first win in relief.
