Spartan women win defensive battle to get past Edgewood

The Aurora University women's lacrosse team got a strong defensive effort with 28 caused turnovers on the way to the Spartans defeating Edgewood University 9-4 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament.

How it happened
- The first quarter saw the Spartans and Ava Courtney trade goals with Edgewood with a 2-2 score after the opening 15.
- The Spartans opened up the game in the second, locking down defensively while building a 6-2 lead.
- Nicolina Smith and Amelia Bell got the scoring started before Courtney added two more goals.
- Edgewood scored early in the third to cut the AU lead to 6-3.
- Courtney then added her fifth and sixth of the game to extend the AU lead to 8-3 heading to the fourth.
- The game remained 8-3 AU deep into the fourth.
- Edgewood scored with 4:51 left to cut the AU lead to four at 8-4.
- Spartan Amelia Bell answered just over 30 seconds later though to end the games scoring as AU went on to win 9-4.
