This game would mark AU's sixth regional appearance in the last eight seasons. The Spartans hoped to start out with an upset, and even after four no-hit innings from starter Conner Hogan, AU would fall 7-0. That would prove to only be the fifth time the Spartan baseball team was shut out in the last 375 games.
