Aurora University Athletics

The Aurora University men's soccer team continued its strong start to the 2026 season on Sunday afternoon, defeating Spalding University 5-1 at Amend Field. The Spartans scored twice in the opening half before adding three more goals after the break to improve to 3-1-1 on the season.

- The Spartans struck first in the 11th minute when Issa Mnangwa found the back of the net off an assist from Ray Fischer, giving AU an early 1-0 advantage.
- AU doubled the lead in the 35th minute. Mizael Terrazas scored with Yandel Reyes picking up the assist, sending the Spartans into halftime with a 2-0 lead.
- The Spartans wasted little time adding to the lead in the second half. Isaac Jacobo scored in the 50th minute off an assist from Carlos Viayra to make it 3-0.
- Less than two minutes later, Jacobo helped create another AU goal, assisting Walter Delapaz in the 52nd minute for a 4-0 Spartan advantage.
- Spalding got on the board with a penalty-kick goal in the 59th minute, cutting the AU lead to 4-1.
- Frankie Jimenez closed out the scoring in the 76th minute, finishing a pass from Logan VanDrie for the 5-1 final.
- Five different Spartans scored in the victory, while five different AU players recorded assists. Jacobo finished with a goal and an assist.
- AU out-shot Spalding 14-7, including an 11-4 advantage in shots on goal.
- Brett Miller played all 90 minutes in goal for the Spartans and made three saves.
