Brandon Sturman

Brandon Sturman joined the AU football program in 2008 as an assistant on Coach Duncan’s staff and will serve as the Linebackers coach and Special Teams Coordinator.

In his first season as the Spartan special teams coordinator, Sturman's unit ranked in the Top 3 in six statistical categories in the Northern Athletics Conference. Sturman also coached one D3Football.com All-Region Linebacker and two NAC All-Conference linebackers.

Prior to coming to AU, Sturman spent the last two seasons as a graduate assistant at his alma mater, Valparaiso University. Sturman moved from the field to the sidelines for Valparaiso University as an assistant coach in charge of linebackers to begin the 2006 season. An Honorable Mention All-Pioneer Football League North selection in 2005, Sturman finished his career with the Brown and Gold with 224 tackles, including 16 tackles for loss. He recovered a pair of fumbles, forced three, and picked off two passes, while blocking a pair of kicks in his four years with the Crusaders as a linebacker.

Sturman graduated from Valparaiso in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in sports management and earned his master’s degree in sports administration in May, 2008.
