Greg Whalen joined the Aurora University football staff for the 2014 season as an offensive graduate assistant and was promoted to the offensive line coach in January, 2015.
Whalen has coached six All-Conference offensive lineman in his two seasons directing the Spartan line.
The 2016 Spartan offensive line finished 10th in NCAA Division III in sacks allowed, allowing only eight over the 10 game season. AU also led the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference in rushing yards per game (173.8) and yards per carry (4.2) in the 2016 season where all five Spartan offensive lineman received All-Conference honors while winning the NACC Football Championship.
Whalen came to AU after a stellar career at North Central College where he was an anchor on the offensive line as a right tackle. In four years he started 34 games and paved the way for numerous school offensive records. Individually he earned national and conference recognition for his success on the field and in the classroom. In 2013 he was named First Team All-CCIW and Second Team All-North Region. Academic All-CCIW, in 2012 he was named First Team All-CCIW and Academic All-CCIW. and in 2011 he was named to D3football.com Team of the Week following Oct. 8 win over Augustana.
