Brian Dempsey joined the Aurora University hockey program in 2014 and serves as the Spartans goaltending coach when the team joined the ranks of the NCAA.
Dempsey has personally coached goaltenders in NCAA D1 programs as well as the professional ranks including the NHL. He has also worked with many AAA and Junior organizations in evaluating and selecting goaltenders.
He has extensive experience with coaching professional goaltenders as part of the Tretiak International School of Goaltending, where he served as a staff instructor for a number of years working with Russian Olympic legend Vladislav Tretiak to coach and instruct dozens of professional goaltenders.
Additionally, Dempsey has worked with Hannu Nyquist, goaltending coach for the Finnish National Team, and has had the opportunity to coach a number of European goaltenders.
Dempsey holds a USA Hockey Level 4 Coaching designation, and has participated in the USA Hockey Advanced Coaching Program at Lake Placid. He has been a lead instructor for USA Hockey affiliates in an effort to provide goaltending expertise as part of the Coaching Education Program.
