Shaun Falzone

Shaun Falzone joined the Aurora University Spartan Hockey program as an assistant coach in 2012. Falzone has been coaching for over 16 years.  He comes to AU with a rich coaching history, winning championships and coaching awards, at all age groups and levels of travel hockey.

Falzone began playing hockey at age three for Sabre Hockey Club and by the time he reached St. Charles East High School and the St Charles Hockey Club in the mid-1990s, he was selected to attend a junior hockey academy in Banff Alberta, Canada.  Returning to St Charles, Coach Falzone discovered that he enjoyed sharing the knowledge he'd gained in Canada. He became an assistant coach in the local Flames youth hockey association, working with squirt and peewee level players.

Following a tour of duty with the US Army, Coach Falzone returned to St Charles, where he was hired as JV Head Coach for the Geneva Hockey Club. He was only home for a few months when his unit was reactivated following September 11th, and he again served a tour of duty.

In September 2003, Coach Falzone returned to coach the Geneva JV.  After his time with Geneva, he moved on to Fremd High School, coaching its JV team to a strong showing, including a State Sweet Sixteen birth.  In 2005, he became Head Varsity Coach of the Elgin-based ELS combined hockey team, building a JV team into a competitive varsity program.  He helped ELS finish in the final 8 of state.  And in August 2008 he returned to the Flames organization, taking the position of Assistant Coach for the Midget Major NIHL team.  From there he was hired as the head coach Leafs Pee Wee team, where he helped his team win the NIHL Championship.  Falzone continued to coach most of his players who moved up to the Leafs Bantam team, where they finished second in state.  Then Falzone, received an offer to help start a brand new junior team, called the Dells Ducks out of Wisconsin Dells.  After putting a great team together and helping the team grow from the ground up, Falzone won Coach of The Year Award, for the Minnesota Junior Hockey League.  He continued on his path, and became a scout and assistant for the Minnesota Owls, Junior tier 3 hockey team.  Coach Falzone is a big believer in hard work and discipline.  For the past 7 years, Falzone has run an off-season conditioning training program for high school, junior, and college players.
