Coach Gilbert enters his 4th year as an assistant coach for the AU distance runners. He is a May 2018 graduate of Aurora University with his Master’s in Business Administration with an emphasis in Leadership. At AU, he has been on staff through 12 team NACC Championships of a possible 18: three with men’s cross country (2015-17), two with men’s track and field (2016, 2018), 1 with women’s cross country (2016), and 6 with women’s track and field (2016-2018 indoor and outdoor).
Gilbert was a student-athlete at North Central College and graduated in 2015 with his degree in English Journalism. At North Central, Gilbert was a top-10 member of his cross country team for three seasons, where his team won the NCAA XC Championship in 2011 and 2012, and runner-up honors in 2010 and 2013. Gilbert was also a varsity contributor on the track from 2011-2014, where he was a 3-time All-Conference selection and 2-time CCIW champion in the DMR and 5,000m run.
Mitch Gilbert is a USATF Level 1 certified coach. He resides in Lisle with his wife Kaytlin.
