Matt Nelson joined the Aurora University athletic staff prior to the 2016-2017 season. Matt will serve as the assistant coach of the AU women's basketball and men's and women's golf programs.
Matt comes to AU after spending the previous two seasons at Dominican University as an assistant coach for men's and women's programs. Prior to his time at Dominican, he spent two seasons as an assistant coach with the Benedictine University women’s basketball team and as an assistant girls’ track coach at West Chicago Community High School.

As a collegiate basketball player, Nelson enjoyed a four-year career at Ripon College, leading the Midwest Conference in three-point percentage his junior season at 48 percent. He was named a captain his senior season and honored with the Jack Arnold award for leadership and courage.
