HOW IT HAPPENED
- AU took a 1-0 lead on a power play late in the first period.
Marissa Dunbar got the tally with assists from
Hannah Gwillim and
Brenna Hannon.
- Early in the second, Hannon scored an unassisted goal and AU led 2-0.
- The Spartans went to a penalty kill shortly after and the offense struck. A short-handed tally from
Taylor Sims was assisted by
Lauren Zielecki and AU led 3-0.
- Spartan goalie
Becca Binder and her defensive corp made the scoreless run continue as they headed to the third period.
- In the third, Binder kept the Trine scoreless and
Nicole McKernan added the fourth AU goal.
Anna Zak assisted on the play.
- The Spartans went on to win with a shutout 4-0.
