Aurora University senior designated hitter Cory Walden (Aurora, Ill./West Aurora H.S.) was named Northern Athletics Conference Baseball Position of the Week for the week ending April 7, 2013.
Walden led AU to a 5-1 week, hitting .407 with three home runs, including a walk-off three run homer against Benedictine University for a 12-10 win and added 13 runs batted in, 12 runs scored and two doubles. He hit safely in all six games and drove in a run in five of the six games.
Walden is hitting .341 with a team-leading six home runs with 24 runs batted in, 21 runs scored, six doubles and one triple. He has a .400 on-base percentage and .659 slugging percentage.
Next action for the Spartan baseball team, currently 13-6 overall and 7-1 in the NAC, comes on Wednesday, April 10 when they travel to the University of Chicago. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m. in Chicago, Ill.
