Aurora University freshman women's hockey forward Nicole McKernan earned national recognition as she was selected to the D3hockey.com Team of the Week.

McKernan picked up her first collegiate hat trick in exciting fashion as AU stayed alive in the NCHA playoff picture with a 3-2 overtime win against Concordia University Wisconsin on Saturday afternoon. The only game for AU on the week, McKernan had all three Spartan goals including the game-winner with 27 seconds to play in overtime.

On the season, McKernan leads the Spartan women in points with 10 and goals with eight. Of her eight goals she has three game-winning goals and four on the power play.

Next action for the Spartan women's hockey team comes on Friday, February 16 when they travel to Finlandia University. Puck drop is set for 7:15 p.m. (EST) in Hancock, Michigan.
