On Saturday, February 18, Schneider Elementary hosted their annual Fun Fair, which offers the children of North Aurora an opportunity to play games and activities for prizes and raffles. What made this year unique,
however, was that the Aurora University Football Team and 17 members played a major roll in Schneider's largest fund raiser of the year.
The 17 Spartans volunteered time out of their weekend to help set-up and run the games for the event. The players really enjoyed interacting with the kids and their involvement was not lost on members of Schneider's PTO. Praise words like “great,” “super,” and “invaluable” were used frequently to describe the players throughout the day; but the highest complement given was that the event “could not have been pulled off without the help of the football players.”
“It was a fun experience to be able to interact with the children in the area and build a relationship between the football program and our community,” said AU junior quarterback Noah Martin.
Joining Martin at the fun fair were his teammates, Fernando Albarran, Pedro Ascencio, Vic Balundis, Brandon Bettis, Jaime Cano, Mike Ghanem, Ryan Goochey, Doug Ingold, Landon Ketchum, Mike Korpai, Eric Mangan, Justin Miller, Jon Olmo, Nate Ponton, Tyler Simmons, and Michael Walker.
