Box Score The Aurora University Spartan hockey team took to the ice
Saturday night against the Defenders of Dordt College at the Fox Valley Ice Arena. AU defeated Dordt 6-0 for AU's 13th consecutive win.
The first period was a defensive battle between the Spartans and the Defenders. In the net for the Spartans,
Paul Favaro stayed perfect stopping the three shots he faced. The AU offense fired 22 shots on net but could not solve the Dordt goalkeeper.
Just three minutes into the second period, the Spartans tailled a goal from Sheldon Khile assisted by
Anthony Rohde and
Bryce Stenstrom.
Two minutes later the offense continued its rythm as Stenstrom racked up a goal with assists from Khile and
Brandon Zurick. As AU continued to pressure the Defenders, Stenstrom tailled a powerplay goal extending the Spartans lead to 3-0 with six minutes left in the period.
Favaro remained perfect by stopping another four shots on goal in the second period.
In the third period, AU started right where they left off, on the attack. Ryan Dalvantes scored the first third period tally as he was assisted by
Joe Jablonski and gave the Spartans a 4-0 lead. Just a minute later Stenstrom lasered a shot in the top right corner of the net recording his third goal of the game. The final Spartans score came from
Jake Spinder as he was assisted by Dalvantes and Jablonski. Favaro recorded the shut out and remained perfect by saving all 11 shots he faced.
The Spartans improve to 14-1 and will be in action next on Friday,
November 15 when they travel to Holy Cross College (Ind.). Game time is set for 9:15 p.m. (est) in Notre Dame, Ind.
