AU men continue record setting pace at IWU Bob Keck

Kayzar was one of the AU record setters
The Aurora University Spartan Men's Track and Field competed on Saturday, February 2 at Illinois Wesleyan University's Bob Keck Invitational. The men finished the meet with multiple athletes breaking indoor records.

“Today was an awesome day for us. I am extremely proud of our athletes today; especially with all of these records being shattered,” said coach Ryan Chapman.

Sophomore Loren Iwanicki finished second in the men's high jump with a mark of 2.00 meters.  Iwanicki's finishing height now sets him on top of AU's record books. “It has been a long two years. I have been waiting to do this, but I know that I can jump even higher,” said Iwanicki. He is now ranked 15 in the nation.

Freshman Tyron Pitchford finished eighth in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.15 seconds. Pitchford's time broke the school record set earlier this season by fellow Spartan Wade Robinson. “We all know Wade and I will be battling back and forth this season for that top spot,” said Robinson.

Junior Kyle Kayzar finished eleventh in the 800 meter run. Kayzar's time of 1:59.54 also break's a school record. Freshman Alex Duncan followed closely behind with a time of 2:00.74.

“I am happy for Kyle today. Him, myself, and Roberto Gonzalez all push one another each day at practice,” said Duncan.

The men's 4x400 meter relay of Alex Hoyle, Nico Gonzalez, Kayzar, and Nick Williams finished eighth with a time of 3:33.01.

Next action for the Spartan men's track and field team comes on Saturday, February 9 when they travel to North Central College for the Chicagoland Indoor Championships.
