Box Score The Aurora University men's lacrosse team dispensed of Hanover College with a 23-3 win
Saturday afternoon at Vago Field.
Hanover struck first just three minutes into the game when Luke Karnick found himself wide open in front of the net. His shot got past AU goalkeeper
Adam Holka for the 1-0 lead.
AU hit back 22 seconds later when sophomore
Nolan Miller was able to find the back of the net. The Spartans went on to score two more times in the quarter as junior
Jack Barry was able to tally two goals of his own. AU led 3-1 at the end of the first quarter.
The Spartans kept up their hot shooting as they were able to score 18 consecutive goals over the second and third quarter. Those 18 goals ran the streak to 21 unanswered goals for a 21-1 AU advantage entering the fourth quarter.
Hanover was able to salvage two goals at the beginning of the fourth quarter. However, AU's Ryan Merrit answered with two goals of his own in the quarter to give AU the 23-3 win.
In total, 10 different Spartans scored goals and 14 recorded points. Three different Spartans recorded five or more points. Sophomore
Danny Loyall (six - three goals and three assists), junior
Garret Rosiek (five - three goals and two assists), and sophomore Max Obrecht (five - four goals and one assist).
With the win the Spartans improve to 3-3 overall and 2-0 in the Midwest Lacrosse Conference. The Spartans will be in action again when they take on Trine University on
March 20. That match-up will be held on the campus of the University of Notre Dame. The opening face-off is scheduled for 11:45 AM eastern time in South Bend, Ind.
