Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Spartans shutout MSOE 3-0 to extend unbeaten streak to 11

The Aurora University Women's Soccer team hosted the Raiders of Milwaukee School of Engineering in a Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference match up Tuesday afternoon.

The Spartans came into today's game riding a ten game unbeaten streak and defeating its last opponent, Concorida University Wisconsin, 2-1.

AU came out strong scoring their first goal just 4:25 in the game. Junior Hunter Coppes took a free kick and led Nicci Bermudes beautifully with Bermudes burying her 22nd goal of the season.

Just under six minutes later with 10:03 off the game clock, a similar play occurred where Coppes again led a beautiful pass, this time to freshman Kaitlin Im Hof who rocketed the ball pass the Raiders goalie. Spartans led 2-0.

The Spartans would have ample opportunities to score during the rest of the half but were unable to convert. The Raiders had two scoring opportunities right at the end of the half but AU goalie Rachael Warnock shut done any opportunity they had. The Spartans went into the half leading the Raiders 2-0.

The Raiders and the Spartans fought hard starting the second half with the teams trading shots with minimal scoring opportunities. In the 66th minute Bermudes struck again. She snuck the ball past the Raiders goalie to extend the Spartans lead to 3-0 and give her 23 goals on the season.

AU's defense would prove to much for the Raiders to handle as AU went on to defeat MSOE 3-0.

With the win, the Spartan unbeaten streak is now at 11 games with AU now holding an 11-3-1 overall record and 7-0 in the NACC. Next action for the Spartan women's soccer team comes on Friday, October 17 when they host Marian University. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m. on Vago Field.
