In just the third minute, Bajkowski found the ball at her feet with Bejarano making a cut to the box. Bajkowski threaded a perfect ball between two Eagle defenders and Bejarano easily beat the keeper to give the Spartans the early lead.
The Spartans' offense continued to put pressure on the Eagles and were able to add to the lead in the 27th minute. McLaughlin found herself with only the goalkeeper in front of her after a brilliant pass from Bermudes and finished the job to make it a 2-0 Spartan lead early in the game.
Aurora kept controlling the game and carried their two goal lead into the half. The Spartans held the Eagles without a shot on goal in the first half while recording five of their own.
The second half of play saw much of the same as the Spartans kept the ball off of their half of the field for the most part. AU recorded four shots on goal in the second which were all saved by the Eagles' goalkeeper. Spartan goalie Rachel Warnock was not challenged with any shots because of a strong defense in front of her and recorded the win, 2-0.
With the win, the Spartans advance their record to 9-3 overall and 5-0 in the NACC. Next action for the Spartan women's soccer team comes on
Tuesday, October 7 when they travel to Augustana College. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. in Rock Island, Illinois.
