In the first match-up between the Aurora University hockey team and a future NCHA conference opponent, Concordia University Wisconsin, the Spartans fell 8-2 in Mequon, Wisconsin.
AU fell behind at 13:34 in the first period and at 17:06 allowed a power play goal to go into the first intermission down 2-0.
The Spartans continued to hang tough with the Falcons and despite a 1:32 time span of the second period in which Concordia Wisconsin tallied three goals, AU was in the contest. At the end of two periods, the Spartans trailed 5-0.
2:09 into the third period, Concordia extended their lead to 6-0.
AU got on the scoreboard for the first time at 14:19 in the third period when
Rihards Marenis beat the Falcon goalkeeper with an assist from Michael Mikulin.
Concordia scored twice more in the period before the Spartans added a power play goal in the final minute.
