The Aurora University Spartans women's basketball team squared off against the Vikings of North Park University on Wednesday afternoon in Thornton Gymnasium is the Spartans 2014-2015 home opener. AU was were unable to keep up with the fast paced play of the Vikings in the first half and were defeated 73-46.

With just over five minutes played in the first half, the Spartans had a one point lead, 6-5. But the visiting Vikings turned up the defensive pressure on the Spartans forcing 10 AU turnovers during a 19-0 run to take a commanding 24-6 lead with nine minutes to play.

Shannon Koski snapped the Spartan scoreless streak. North Park was able to build a 26 point lead later in the half but AU chipped away at the lead some and went into half trailing by 23 at 42-19. Koski led AU in the first half with 12 points as only four Spartans scored in the opening frame.

In the second half the Spartans were able to shoot the ball a little better from the field and slowed the hot shooting Vikings with both teams shooting 11-of-28 in the second half.
As the final horn sounded, AU dropped to 0-4 on the season. Koski finished with 19 points, six rebounds and five assists,

Saturday, November 29 when they host Concordia University Wisconsin. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m. in Thornton Gymnasium.
