Box Score The Aurora University men's lacrosse team hosted the Grizzlies from Adams State University, a NCAA Division II school on Vago Field
Friday afternoon. Six different Spartans found the back of the net and the defense led by senior goaltender
Adam Holka held the Grizzlies to just three goals on 34 shots as the Spartans won 13-3 and advanced to 4-3 overall on the year.
Aurora jumped out to an early lead just over three minutes into the game as junior
Max Obriecht beat the Grizzlies' goaltender for a 1-0 lead.
Nolan Miller added a quick man-up goal just three minutes later to double the Spartan lead.
Adams State answered immediately with a goal of their own to cut their deficit in half. This would be their only goal of the half, however, as the Spartans made some adjustments on both sides of the field and started to run away with the game.
The score remained 2-1 going into the second quarter but the Spartans tallied three more to strengthen their lead. Senior
Pat Diorka added back to back goals on assists from Obriecht and freshman
Casey Pettine before Miller added his second on the day to put AU up 5-1. They would carry this lead into the second half.
The Spartans continued their hot play into the second half as junior
Jordan Williams and senior
Jack Barry scored just a minute and a half apart from each other to make it a 7-1 game.
Adams State tried to slow down the pace and were successful in scoring their second goal of the game but Obriecht answered just ten seconds later as he won the faceoff and worked a give-and-go with sophomore
Zach Henry for AU's eighth goal on the day.
The Spartans outscored Adams State 5-1 over the remainder of the game to win by a score of 13-3. Diorka and Williams both completed their hat tricks. On the defensive side of the ball, Holka played lights out in net as he saved 13 of the 16 Grizzlies' shots on goal.
With the win, AU is now 4-3 overall. Next action for the Spartan men's lacrosse team comes on
Sunday,
March 30th as they travel east to the campus of Notre Dame University to take on Trine University at noon eastern, 11:00 a.m. central.
