Spartans knock off Carthage in low scoring MLC contest

Obriecht dominated the face-off dot going 11-of-13
Box Score A battle of two high powered offenses in the Midwest Lacrosse Conference between the Spartans of Aurora University and the host Carthage College Redmen was a low scoring affair with AU winning 6-4.

The game was tied 3-3 entering the fourth period when the Spartan offense opened up the game with three goals to open up a three goal lead before Carthage added a late goal that proved too little too late.

Carthage scored the games first goal with 2:30 left in the first period and just 34 seconds later,

found the back of the net on a man-up goal and he was assisted by Danny Loyall on the play.

Carthage added a meaningless man-up goal with 22 seconds left in the game for the final score of 6-4.

Obriecht finished the night with a dominating performance in the face-off cirlce going 11-of-13 on the night and added nine ground balls. Barry added six ground balls to his goal and Spencer Fuqua had four ground balls and a caused turnover.

With the win, AU is now 6-3 overall and 4-0 in the MLC. Next action for the Spartan men's lacrosse team comes on Friday, April 4 when they host Whittier College. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m. on Vago Field.
