AU concludes women's lacrosse season with 19-7 loss

Box Score The Aurora University women's lacrosse team concluded the 2014 season at home on Tuesday afternoon with a 19-7 loss to Carthage College.

The visitors jumped out to a 5-0 lead just over eight minutes into the game before the Spartans were able to solve the Carthage defense. With 21:20 on the clock, AU's Lexie Wright scored the first Spartan goal and the first of her five goals on the day. Wright was assisted by Rachel Cochran on the play.

After Carthage scored three goals for an 8-1 lead, AU got two goals from Wright to cut the deficit to 8-3 with 12:18 to play. Following another Carthage goal, Spartan Danielle Morgan found the back of the net.

At the half, AU trailed 10-4. In the first 10 minutes of the second half, Carthage pushed their lead to double digits at 14-4 before Wright scored an unassisted goal.

Again Carthage pushed the lead back to double digits, this time to 18-5 before Manuella Getzinger scored her first goal of the season with an assist from Chloe Madison.

Wright added her fifth goal as the final horn sounded for the 19-7 final score.

With the loss, AU finishes the 2014 season with a 4-11 overall record and were 3-7 in the MWLC.
