Box Score 2 The Aurora University volleyball team took to the road for another tournament, this one in Bloomington, Illinois at Illinois Wesleyan University. The Spartans would go 2-0 on the day, defeating the host Titans 3-1 (25-20, 25-21, 19-25, 25-18) and then knocking off Anderson University 3-2 (25-23, 25-14, 20-25, 17-25, 15-12).
In the opening win over Illinois Wesleyan, AU sophomore
Peyton McKenzie led the Spartans with 13 kills and a .355 hit percentage, junior
Destiny Stuersel had 16 assists and 16 digs, sophomore
Andrea Kappelman had 23 digs and sophomore
Katie Olsen had 14 digs and two serving aces.
The second match of the day with Anderson saw the Spartans jump out to a quick 2-0 advantage with a dominating 25-14 win in the second set. But Anderson was not willing to go away quietly as they won the next two sets to force a deciding fifth set which AU would hold on to win 15-12 for the 3-2 win. McKenzie had a team-high 12 kills and three serving aces, junior

Brooke Pylant had nine kills and a team high 24 digs with senior
Lexi O'Boyle dishing out 23 assists.
With the wins, AU is now 10-5 overall and 0-1 in the NACC. Next action for the Spartan volleyball team comes on
Saturday, September 20 at the Illinois Wesleyan University Tournament. AU plays Lincoln Christian (12:00 p.m.) and Knox College (2:00 p.m.) in Bloomington, Illinois.
