The Aurora University volleyball team won their second straight tournament, this time capturing the Illinois Wesleyan University Tournament with a 4-0 record after defeating Lincon Christian 3-0 and Knox College 3-0 on day two of the tournament on Saturday, September 20.
In the first match of the day against the NAIA opponent in Lincoln Christian, the Spartans controlled the match winning in three sets, 25-14, 25-22, 26-24.
Brooke Pylant had a team high 10 kills,
Peyton McKenzie had nine kills with a .444 hit percentage and
Lexi O'Boyle had 22 assists.
Then in the second match the Spartans took on Knox College who they had beaten earlier this year 3-0 at the Augustana College Tournament. AU took care of Knox again in three sets, winning 25-23, 25-15, 25-22. Pylant and
Lauren Marsh each had seven kills, O'Boyle had 14 assists and
Katie Olsen had 19 digs.
For her performance in the tournament, sophomore
Peyton McKenzie was named to the IWU All-Tournament Team, her second all-tournament selection in as many weeks.
With the sweep on the day, AU is now 12-5 overall. Next action for the Spartan volleyball team comes on
Wednesday, September 24 when they host Alverno College. Match time is set for 7:00 p.m. in Thornton Gymnasium.
