The Aurora University volleyball team made quick work of Alverno College in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference match up Wednesday night in Thornton Gymnasium. AU won 3-0 (25-12, 25-20, 25-18).
AU jumped out to a quick advantage in the contest winning the opening set 25-12. The second set did not come as easy for the Spartans who found themselves trail early in the set before storming back for the 25-20 win. In the third and final set of the night, AU again found themselves in a tight contest early on. But as they had done early in the night, the Spartans went on the offensive finishing with the 25-18 win.
Spartan sophomore
Peyton McKenzie led AU with 13 kills and three aces,
Lexi O'Boyle had 19 assists,
Andrea Kappelman had 15 digs,
Katie Olsen had 10 digs and four Spartans (
Alexis Hammond,
Brooke Pylant,
Lindsey Wille and
Mikayla O'Brien) had five kills each.
With the win, AU is now 13-5 overall and 1-1 in the NACC, having won 9 of their last 10. Next action for the Spartan volleyball team comes on
Friday, September 26 when they play in the IIAC-NACC Challenge at Wisconsin Lutheran College. AU will take on University of Dubuque (3:00 p.m.) and Buena Vista University (7:00 p.m.) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
