The Aurora University women's soccer team took to the road for the first time in 2014 and fell in overtime at Alma College, 2-1.
AU got out to a quick start with junior
Nicci Bermudes tallying her third goal of the season just 5:11 into the game.
After the Spartan goal, both teams created offensive chances without any success as the game went to halftime with the Spartans holding a 1-0 lead.
In the second half, AU controlled the contest and the scoreboard but with 3:49 to play in the game, AU goalkeeper Kaitlin DeRuiter was called for a foul which resulted in an Alma penalty kick. The kick was converted tying the contest late.
The home Scots carried the momentum change into overtime and scored 4:18 into the first overtime to knock off the Spartans.
With the loss, AU is now 1-2 overall on the season. Next action for the Spartan women's soccer team comes on
Monday, September 8 when they host the University of Chicago. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m. on Vago Field.
