The Aurora University women's basketball team hosted the Warriors from Wisconsin Lutheran College on Saturday afternoon in Thornton Gymnasium with AU being defeated 62-38.
The Spartans fell behind early in the game as the Warriors went on a 17-7 run early in the first half. AU junior
Shannon Koski pulled the Spartans within six (17-11) with six minutes to go in the first half but that would be the closest the Spartans would come to the lead the rest of the game.
The Warriors took advantage of a cold shooting performance from AU to continue their run (17-6) the remainder of the first half. The half ended with the Spartans trailing by 17 and a score of 34-17.
The second half started with a 13-2 run by the Warriors leaving the Spartans to face a 47-19 deficit midway through the second half. The Spartans began to build a comeback late in the second half as they scored several unanswered baskets to bring the score closer.
The Spartans ultimately fell to the Warriors by a final of 62-38. Koski led AU with 16 points.
AU is now 4-11 overall and 4-6 in the NACC. Next action for the Spartan women's basketball team comes on
Wednesday, January 14, 2015 when they travel to Marian University. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. in Fond du lac, Wisconsin.
