The Aurora University women's basketball team traveled to St. Louis, Missouri and played at Webster University against Spalding University. Despite senior
Bethany Dorrington cementing herself in the AU record book as a 1,000 point scorer, the Spartans lost a tightly played contest 55-51.

HOW IT HAPPENEDThe Spartans used an 11-0 run to take an 18-10 lead after one period.
Despite being out scored in the second period, the Spartans maintained a lead at halftime 29-24.
A cold shooting third period did in the Spartans. AU went 1 for 12 from the field an were out scored 18-4 and trailed by nine 42-33.
The Spartans battled back, cutting the deficit to two (53-51) with 41 seconds to play but a late basket by Spalding was to much to overcome.

FOR THE SPARTANSBethany Dorrington led the Spartans with a double-double of 16 points and 13 rebounds. She also became the 7th Spartan in AU women's basketball history to surpass 1,000 points in a career when she scored her ninth point of the game in the third quarter.
Anna Roszkowski added 11 rebounds and four points.
Kelly Evers had nine points.
