Hockey wins first contest of 2015-2016 season at Finlandia

The Aurora University Spartan hockey team traveled to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan for the first Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game in the schools young hockey history. AU scored the games final three goals for a 4-1 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Just before the first intermission, AU broke the scoreless tie. Michael Mikulan scored with assists from Tim Santopoalo and Ron Lingren.
Midway through the second period Finlandia tied the game 1-1. Chris Hoffman scored with assists from Andrew Martin and Alex Holm.
AU took back the lead with 4:10 left in the second period, Tom Greene scored with an assist to Lingren.
The game remained 2-1 until late in the third . AU scored a power play goal with Anthony Pnewski getting the tally and assists to Greene and Danny Zielecki.
AU put the game away in the final seconds as Trevor Hoth scored the fourth and final AU goal with an assist to Vincent Currao.
 
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
AU collects their first Northern Collegiate Hockey Association win in their first NCHA contest.
The teams combined for 20 penalties, eight for AU and 12 for Finlandia.
 
FOR THE SPARTANS
Tom Greene had the game winning goal and one assist.
Ron Lingren had two assists.
Michael Mikulan had one goal.
Anthony Pnewski had one goal.
Trevor Hoth had one goal.
Tim Santopoalo, Vincent Currao and Danny Zielecki had one assist each.
Jared Rutledge had 20 saves in the win.
 
FOR THE FOES
Chris Hoffman had one goal.
Andrew Martin and Alex Holm had an assist.
Andrew Brownlee had 29 saves.
