AU women win second in a row 77-68 over Lakeland

The Aurora University women's basketball used a second consecutive hot shooting night to knock off the visiting Muskies of Lakeland College 77-68.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Spartans jumped out to the quick 10-0 lead, started by a three-pointer from Bethany Dorrington just 15 seconds into the first quarter.
The Muskies would battle back and cut the lead to just three (16-13) fueled by a three-pointer from Callie Olson.
AU extended their lead to six after a three-pointer from Mallory Cast but Lakeland would get a last second layup to end the quarter with the Spartans leading 26-22.
AU started the second quarter much like a first with a leading three-pointer from Dorrington.
With 2:38 remaining in the half the Spartans Mallory Cast would put the Spartans up by 10 (43-33).Going into the half, AU's Anna Roszkowski dropped a last second layup to make the score 47-39.
The Spartans and Muskies traded baskets before the Spartans started to pull away in the third period. After Dorrington knocked down another three with 4:37 left on the clock to extend their lead to 55-46. At the end of the third quarter the Spartans led 61-52.
The Spartans kept the three pointers flowing in the fourth quarter, Dorrington knocked down another three-pointer with 7:59 remaining in the game to make the score 69-54.
Lakeland would battle back but would run out of steam, AU would defeat Lakeland 77-68.
 
FOR THE SPARTANS
Four Spartans ended in double digits
Anna Roszkowski had a double-double with 21 points and 13 rebounds.
Bethany Dorrington had 21 points on seven made three-point field goals. The seven three's ties a single game record.
Mallory Cast had 13 points.
Kelly Evers had 10 points and six rebounds.
AU out-rebounded Lakeland 42-32 and assisted on 21 of 28 made field goals in the game.

Bailey Grayvold had 16 points
Kayla Clark had 15 points
Trista Barron had 13 points
Rach Stankevich had 10 points
